There are 2 months left to complete another year writing a daily post. I am very lucky to combine practice with the pleasure of writing, so on average it is not difficult for me to meet this challenge. Post on the weekend Fotolia photo rights The bad thing is that extremes exist. Days in which I get a post and it seems that I could write 3 in a row and others where my fingers almost hurt typing from the mental effort I have to make to program my entry. The days that cost the most are the weekends. Just when the family is resting after dinner is when I start writing. The same many will wonder if it is really worth publishing on weekends since the traffic drops up to 50% compared to the strongest day that is Saturday. Advantages of writing Saturday and/or Sunday I am not the first and probably not the last to answer this question. I am going to give you an answer based on my personal experience. Less Competition – The vast majority of bloggers decide to take a break for the weekend. There is less “fresh” content, so you have an advantage by posting on these dates. Despite having less traffic, it may be easier to get consumer email list attention since you compete with fewer posts. Do not stop practicing : I will not tire of telling you that anyone can be a good blogger if they get enough practice. You don't need to read this blog to get started. Writing one line after another learning from your mistakes and successes I assure you that one day you will get a blog that is read . If a German gets it, so do you. You have the time : I admit that this point can be relative depending on your personal situation. Especially if you have small children, it is very likely that you have infinitely less time than a person without and also being single. But hey, although it is an advantage for blogging , there are important disadvantages in other aspects Disadvantages of writing on the weekend There are good reasons to post on the weekend but just as there are others that go against it. As they are based mainly on my experience, you do not necessarily see yourself reflected in all the arguments that I expose. Do not disconnect : it is good to rest. Although I am not capable of doing it, a less geeky person should allow it without having a guilty conscience. It's okay not to write on the weekend. Inferior content quality : I have to admit that in my personal case, on weekends I get a weaker post on average than during the week. I want to finish earlier so I can rest and sometimes it affects the quality of the content. Saturation of your subscribers : I almost feel a little sorry for my blog's subscribers because when they start the week they already have 3 new posts to read. You can get to saturate so much content and a reason to unsubscribe from a blog . I am aware that there is the possibility of scheduling a post. Since I already write 1-2 posts a day, so far I have not found a way to organize myself to advance this work, so I am forced to write over the weekend to publish on Saturday and Sunday. If you were to ask me directly whether or not to publish on the weekend, the answer would be “no”. It depends a lot on your goals with your blog. To have a blog that is read one day, you can achieve it without having to write on Saturday and Sunday. Just because I do it doesn't mean it makes sense to you. My goal is to reach 10,000 daily visits in 2014, so my philosophy in this case is that you have to go further than the others, even if from time to time it hurts a bit. It is very likely that thanks to this entry 2 or 3 new readers have arrived who otherwise would not have met me.
